Statement
In my artworks I create images, made up of many layers of moments which overlay each other, by projecting photos of spaces using a projector.
For example, I take unpremeditated photos of scenery, the resulting photos of which I project, using a projector, in the same place and then once again I take photos from the same spot as before. I then do this process over and over again. I overprint the resulting image that is created onto canvas using silk screen and paint.
Via these photographs and projections I can overlap layers of the “scenery just now” onto the “now scenery.”
The real image of now, and the next moment, become one of a layered past. This time that we live in is the result of overlapping moments which are like what I call “segments of successive movie frames."
This exhibition is not an art production with the motif of space; my motif is the ‘framing’ of images.
Paintings are windows that cut out an image and a time, and frames are the objects that border that image and time.
But if we replace the paintings in the middle of those frames, then the bordered image and time changes.
Despite the absence of a substance within the frame, the images that would have had a border, and the bordered reality, pile up, and it makes me almost think that time, or even times, are converging.
