MARUEIDO JAPAN is pleased to announce the holding of an exhibition called "LANDSCAPE here and there."
The last Tokyo Olympics were held in 1964, and America's Apollo 11 successfully landed on the moon in 1969. Through television screens, the distance to the moon has gotten closer through fantasy to a more realistic distance, and people dream of landscapes they have never seen before. At the same time, however, the impact of expanding human activities on earth have led to the impact from climate change and environmental problems becoming more common, and the earth's environment is facing a crisis of survival.
In this exhibition, landscapes with the moon painted by modern Japanese painters, Tatsuo Takayama (1912-2007) and Kyujin Yamamoto (1900-1986) will be joined together with paintings and images based on landscapes (or at least appears to be) by six contemporary artists who are looking directly at the modern "world". This is an exhibition where visitors can imagine far future landscapes from the current present day by considering the modern world from the distant past through a multifaceted and diverse lens.
